Application: Diesel Engine Exhaust Lines
Region: GCC
Enquiry NowAn offshore vessel operator needed engine exhaust expansion joints that could withstand continuous thermal cycling, vibration, and backpressure from large marine diesel engines. The joints had to be type-approved by Bureau Veritas (BV) and fit within constrained engine room spaces without compromising durability or performance.
FlexiBel engineered and supplied metallic exhaust bellows with BV Type Approval, built from high-temperature stainless steel (SS 321) with integral tie rods and reinforced collars. The bellows were designed for axial and lateral movement and delivered with marine-grade insulation wrap to control heat radiation.
The bellows were successfully installed on two support vessels during scheduled drydock. Post-installation inspection confirmed thermal expansion was effectively absorbed, and engine room vibration was reduced. The solution is now being replicated on additional vessels in the client’s fleet.
