Engineering & Design

Performance Begins with Design

At Flexibel, every joint starts with design. Expansion joints are not commodities, they are engineered components that must absorb movement, pressure, and thermal cycles without compromising the system. A good design prevents failures, extends service life, and lowers total cost of ownership.

How Expansion Joints Are Designed

At Flexibel, every joint starts with design. Expansion joints are not commodities, they are engineered components that must absorb movement, pressure, and thermal cycles without compromising the system. A good design prevents failures, extends service life, and lowers total cost of ownership.

1

Pressure & Temperature

Internal pressure ratings and operating temperatures define thickness, ply count, and material choice.

2

Movement

Axial, lateral, angular, and torsional displacements are calculated against allowable stresses and fatigue limits.

3

Cycle Life

Each bellows is rated for a specific number of movement cycles. Engineering must ensure fatigue resistance over the expected lifecycle.

4

Material Selection:

From stainless steels (SS321, SS316Ti, Inconel) for metallic bellows to high-grade composites for fabric joints, materials are chosen based on corrosion, creep, and thermal resistance.

5

Welding & Fabrication Standards

Weld procedures, ply thicknesses, and convolution geometry are engineered to EJMA standards to ensure repeatable quality.

Our Engineering Approach

Application-Specific Analysis

We study your system’s temperature profile, pressure conditions, anchor spans, and vibration loads. Each design is customized to actual operating conditions — not assumptions.

Advanced Tools

Finite Element Analysis (FEA), 3D modeling, and lifecycle simulations validate each joint before fabrication. Our in-house design library accelerates standard builds while reducing design errors.

Code Compliance

All designs are aligned with EJMA, ASME, and international piping codes, ensuring both safety and global acceptance.
